you’ll be history.
Our approach to non-fiction
First you’ll take us through why you wrote the piece and what you hope readers get out of it. For example, if you wrote a biography, it’s more than a story of someone’s life — it’s why that life had meaning and what you want your readers to learn from it. Once we understand what you’re going for, we’ll get into your text. We’ll check it for factual accuracy. We’ll check it for readability. And we’ll make sure it’s a page-turner even if it’s really not.
The right pitch is paramount — but you know that. What you might not know is how we can help you create your pitch. We’ll craft your submission letter, complete with comparative titles, a tight description and market data to grab the attention of an agent or even an acquiring editor.
If you’re self-publishing, we’ll give you everything you need to be successful there too, from marketing blurbs to landing pages.
Copyediting and proofreading for non-fiction
Hundreds of hours of research, interviews and fact-finding missions to far-off places where the bathrooms were less than awesome — all for naught because of a typo. Seriously. It happens. We’ve seen it. And we’ve felt it. One time we were thoroughly enjoying a book about the space race of the 1960s until we were told that Neil Armstrong’s walk on the “mon” was the most important event of the decade. All we could think about was a team of astronauts traversing up and down the body of a giant Jamaican. Naturally, we lost focus.
That’s why we’ll read your text for content and accuracy, style, readability and details. Because God is in the details, which incidentally is the working title of our first book.
French translation for non-fiction
Everybody who wants to learn from you should be able to learn from you. Our translators will make sure it happens. We’ll get to the root of what you’re getting at, and serve it up in easy-to-read French.
