Our process
How we work
We pair writers and editors together in teams so you get a left- and right-brained perspective on your projects. It comes through in the work: inspired editing; tight writing; nuanced translation.
It also comes through in the relationship. Our writers, editors and translators work well together because they bring different specialties to the same skill. And they literally finish each other’s sentences.
Writing engagements
We start with a simple questionnaire, put together specifically for your project. It helps us crystallize our thinking by helping you crystallize yours. Once we have what we need, we’ll do the interviews and research and present a first draft with two to three different styles. For bigger projects, we’ll present a few paragraphs in the first draft and flesh it out from there.
We typically charge per project.
Editing/Proofreading engagements
To get us working, call or email with your request, any files, available style guides or pertinent instructions, and the deadlines. We’ll be up front if we can’t meet them. For Word files, we’ll track our changes so you can see exactly what we’ve done. If we’re given a PDF to edit, we’ll return with comments in sticky notes.
We typically charge per hour.
Translation engagements
We ask for any preferences up front and we’ll always default to asking over assuming. We like to get it right the first time, and we ensure that with a post-translation proofread every time.
We typically charge per source word.
Every piece gets at least two sets of eyes on it before it gets back to you.
